Fixed-Bearing Knee Replacement
Your surgeon can recommend which knee replacement implant may be right for you based on his or her training and experience, as well as your medical needs and lifestyle. A Fixed-Bearing implant is designed so that the shinbone is topped with a flat metal piece that securely holds the plastic spacer, also called a bearing, securely in place. The majority of total knees implanted are Fixed-Bearing knees.1 Below are two Fixed-Bearing implants from DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc.:

Uni-Compartmental Knee Replacement
|
When you wear out only one side of your knee joint, your surgeon may be able to replace just the damaged side of your joint. The Preservation® Uni-compartmental Knee may offer the opportunity to have a partial resurfacing using less invasive reconstructive techniques. This procedure is also referred to as minimally invasive. |
The Importance of Talking With Your Surgeon
The way a knee replacement will perform depends on your age, weight, activity level and other factors. There are potential risks and recovery takes time. If you have conditions that limit rehabilitation you should not have this surgery. Only an orthopaedic surgeon can tell you if knee replacement is right for you. Use our Surgeon Locator to find a surgeon near you to talk about your options with Sigma® Knee Replacement solutions.
